Preamble
Abinooji ‘Ombigii Aawsowin (2029) came into force of January 19th, 2026, and holds the force of federal law pursuant our Inherent jurisdiction and to An act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Metis, child, youth and family services act (2020) (s. 21 (1), consequently:
- All Children's Aid Societies and Indigenous Child and Family Services are strictly advised to observe and abide by Abinooji “Ombigii Aawsowin (2019) as enacted on the December 19th, 2023, in the Round House by the Gakijiwanoong Anishinaabe people.
- All Children's Aid Societies in the province of Ontario are strictly advised to observe and abide by the First Nations, Inuit and Metis obligations of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act (2017).
- All Children's Aid Societies and Indigenous Child and Family Services are strictly advised to observe and abide by the standards set out in An act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Metis, child, youth and family services act (2020).
- All Children's Aid Societies and Indigenous Child and Family Services in the province of Ontario are obliged to provide due deference and assent to the authority of the Band Representative as accorded under the clauses of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act (2017).
